Westin McCoy

Well...it's been way too long since my last post and holy cow a lot has happened.

Westin McCoy was born on July 4th, 2010 at 6:02 pm. He was 8 lbs. 1 oz and 22 inches long (with a cone head). He is the absolute best baby we could ever ask for. Westin has been a very chill and happy baby and brings so much joy to our family.

Here are some of the things about Westin that made his mom and dad so proud in his first month...

*At a week and 1 day he rolled on his side

*At one week his cord fell off so he took a real bath (didn't really love it...yet). His second real bath he started loving it.
* Shortly after his cord fell off, we took him in the pool and he loves it! (as long as the water isn't too cold)

*At his 2 week dr.s appt he was 21 3/4 inches long (75-90%); 9 lbs (75-90%); and his head was 14 1/2 cm in circumference (50%).

*He absolutely loves to cuddle and be held (especially when he is sleeping)

*He was sleeping 3-4 hours during the night

Here are some pictures that our wonderful f
riend, Polly, took of baby Westin and our family when he was just 2 weeks old.

Also, Matt started Medical school on August 3rd and is just loving it so far. He has started dissecting human cadavers and has been bombarded with loads of information to study, but he is doing great at keeping up and still finding time to spend with Westin and me.

Don't worry! I still have much more to post as soon as I can transfer all of my pictures onto this computer (Matt and I had to switch computers).

It's A BOY!!!

We finally found out that our little one is a boy! And oh boy are we excited! When the ultrasound tech first showed us his face he was being super shy and kept his hands right in front of his face. At the end, we just watched him for a bit to see if he would put his hands down and sure enough, he did. But right after he did, he stuck his tongue out at us! It was just the funniest and cutest thing. Too bad we didn't get a picture of it, but I will remember it forever. Here are the pics we got from the ultrasound today.

His cute little profile...

His little legs...

His feet (that look exactly like Matt's)...

His face...

His arm...

And the little clue he gave us that he's a boy...

We were so excited after the ultrasound that we went to the store to buy him his first outfit. We had such a hard time finding just the right one, so we ended up with just the right 2. I chose one and Matt chose the other. I just can't wait to see our little one all snuggled up in his new jammies!

Here's the one I chose (mostly because the booties are puppies)...

And Matt chose this one (mostly because of the claws on the feet)...

And, we just found out that Matt got accepted to Midwestern in Glendale, AZ. It's been such an exciting week and we feel so blessed. We can't wait to see what the future brings!

Olympic Trials

We had the coolest opportunity to go see some amazing athletes compete to go to the Olympics. We got to see them compete in the moguls and the super pipe. The moguls were absolutely amazing. I have no idea how those athletes can do that so fast. They were going down this huge, steep hill that had moguls on it in under 25 seconds. It was crazy!

(sorry it's a little blurry)

Also, the snowboarders competing in the super pipe did some amazing tricks. I snowboard but I could never imagine doing anything like that. They are truly amazing. Our favorite competitor was Shaun White. He got twice as much air as everyone else and did tricks that were insane! It was so fun seeing them compete and to spend time together.

Catch Up

It's been a long time... whoops! We've had a lot of fun adventures recently and some very exciting news as well. We are going to have a baby on July 12th! We are super excited and can't wait to meet our little "peanut". I personally can NOT wait to find out what the gender is. We won't find out until Feb 25th. Seems like it's too far away. We have a picture from the first ultrasound at 8 weeks, but it's been in the proud soon-to-be daddy's wallet for a while, so the picture isn't the best quality. We should have some better pictures (more recent) up soon. But, here is our little one at 8 weeks.

Also, we got to go to Alaska for the first time over Christmas Break! It was awesome to spend time with my family (who recently moved there) and to be in a new place. We got to go snowboarding, cross-country skiing (which was hilarious because none of us had ever gone before), ice skating, sledding, and other fun things Alaska has to offer. It was a blast. Here were some of the pictures we took while there.

This is a picture of a moose that was in the backyard. During the whole trip we were trying to see if we could see a moose, and one came to us! It was so huge; I couldn't believe it came so close to us.

Matt wanted me to take this picture for Scott to see. They have a special relationship and I'm sure Scott would think it's funny, and for the rest of you if you find it weird, just pretend you never saw it. In Matt's defense, it was a really weird statue thing.

Matt pretending to be a moose. Isn't he cute?

The family! This is after our second attempt at cross country skiing. Luckily the second time around some of us started kind of getting the hang of it, but most of us still had a few big wipe outs! It was great exercise though and a wonderful way to spend time together.

These are pictures of the beautiful view from my family's house. Alaska is a beautiful place, I just couldn't believe the amazing scenery.

Funny Stories

So, in order for you guys to get to know us a little better, we wanted to share some funny things that have happened to us in the past few months.

We went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas just a few weeks ago with my family. It was tons of fun and the weather was perfect. Towards the end of the day, when we were about ready to leave, we decided that we wanted to go on one last ride. It was a bugs bunny log ride and there was a really long line. When we finally were able to get on the ride, Matt decided that he would try to beat my sisters to the back seat. He tried to jump into the back but one of his feet got caught and he totally tripped into the seat and almost smacked his head on the other side of the car. While that was pretty funny by itself, all the people waiting in line for the ride saw him trip and shouted "ohhhh, how embarrassing!" He hung his head in shame for the remainder of the day.

My funny story happened on our wedding day. Let's just say, if I were superstitious, we probably would not be married right now because there were a lot of "omens". Well, it all started in the temple. When I first got there, I was assigned a matron like everybody else who assured me that none of my things would get lost since everything was tagged with my name. So, I get into the locker room and my matron hung a changing robe over my locker. All of a sudden, when I was getting ready to put on my robe, I saw one of the workers come and take my robe away. I wasn't sure where she put it, so I quickly called my mom over to try to get it back. She got my matron who asked the worker who stole my robe, and the worker couldn't remember taking my robe. Finally they found me another robe, so I went to the changing room to put on my wedding dress. My matron hung my dress on a hook right behind my changing area (so I could see the dress in my mirror while I was changing). Then, while I was putting my dress on, I looked in the mirror and saw the same worker that stole my robe take my dress bag and put it somewhere. I told my mom that the same worker just stole my bag and she told my matron. My matron confronted the worker and the worker had no recollection of taking my bag. They searched and searched for my dress bag but couldn't find it anywhere. Finally, I had to go get married, but my matron promised me she would find my long lost dress bag. By the time I got back (as a married woman), they still could not find my bag. They told me they would find it by the time I got back from taking pictures, but, when I got back...still no bag. They finally found a spare bag to give me that was too small for my dress. After all that, I did get married and I'm glad I did. But they never did find my bag and I'm not sure if they ever even found that robe either...

Anyways, hopefully you found these as funny as we did.
